Kid-Friendly Eatery: Clodeli
Cute aesthetic, good coffee, great food, toddler activity station. What more can we ask from a cafe?
(Did we mention they also have toilets?)
Clodeli Cafe in Randwick: the perfect solution for the next time you’re looking for a place to grab a coffee with a friend (and your kids). Or for when you want to go out for breakfast with your family, and actually be able to maintain a conversation for part of the time.
One of my friends had told me about this cafe, and that they had toys and stuff for kids that you can bring over to your table. Not knowing of many (or any) cafes in Randwick that offer this, I was eager to check it out.
Ruby and I finally bundled two kids each into the cars and over to Randwick last week, on a gorgeous spring mid-week morning. We found parking about 100m up the hill, and walked down to be greeted by a light, spacious cafe at the end of the strip of shops on Clovelly Rd.
We located the stash of toys and kids activities to the right of the door, near the counter. There were colouring pencils, paper, books, wooden cars and animals, mini wire bead games and a wooden activity cube available for use. Colouring pencils, paper, and wooden cars in hand, we set up at a large rectangular table at the back of the cafe.
The staff were kind and efficient, and the service was fairly quick (always a plus when there are some hungry kids at the table - or a couple of sleep deprived parents needing caffeine). We ordered coffees, babychinos, a ham and cheese croissant and the biscoff pancake special (which were decadent and delicious).
It was a lovely surprise to find there were toilets available at the back of the cafe, though it’s worth noting that there wasn’t a change table.
Overall, the abundance of toys and colouring kept our toddlers entertained, allowing us to relax and enjoy our time together. We’ll definitely be making a return visit to Clodeli!
